Design Idea: Add Punchy Colors to a Vintage-Style Bath

An artful mix of color and pattern makes this small bath sing. “My client and I knew we wanted a colorful tub in addition to the painted wood floor, but the palette really came together when I found the wallpaper (called Birds in Midnight by Galbraith & Paul),” says Santa Monica, CA–based interior designer Alison Kandler. That vibrant wall covering served as inspiration for the checkerboard pattern underfoot, which is coated with porch and floor enamel in Lagoon and Pickle by Sherwin-Williams. Introducing Overallt: Ikea’s New Collection with Artists from Five African Countries

We’re going to be upfront: Overallt, Ikea’s new limited-edition collection, won’t hit stores until May. But it’s such a great, happy collection that we couldn’t wait to spotlight it. Coal-Fired Power Plants Are Polluting Groundwater: Analysis

A new analysis of data collected from coal-fired power plants shows that groundwater contamination from coal ash dumps is nearly universal. The Guardian writes that of the 265 coal power plants in the U.S. that monitor groundwater, 242 of them report unsafe levels of at least one pollutant. Contaminants include arsenic, a known carcinogen, as well as cobalt, cadmium, and lithium. The study, led by Environmental Integrity Project (EIP) attorney Abel Russ, is based on data that became available to the public for the first time in 2018, three years after new federal coal ash regulations were issued. EIP and Earthjustice,…
